Here are some highlights of our trip to St. Catherine’s Monastery and the Burning Bush on Mount Sinai

St. Catherine's Monastery - Mt. Sinai

Amy and Kristie trekking up the road to visit St. Catherine's monastery in Mt. Sinai. It was built in the 5th century at the site where Moses saw the burning bush. It is the oldest working Christian monastery in the world.

The burning bush

The Burning Bush. This is the actual bush that Moses saw burning in the desert. It was here that God told Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

Toilet in Egypt

Swank toilet in the Sinai desert - While not all toilets are as stylish as this one, we had to use this kind of bathroom more than I care to recall. The fee to use this disgusting hole in the floor?? 1-2 Egyptian pound!

Kristie paying to use the toilet

In Egypt, there is a charge to use most public restrooms at historical sites. The price for Kristie to enter this roadside WC was 2 Egyptian pounds.

Bedouin Roadside Coffee Shop

We LOVE Turkish coffee!! Especially Amy. Fortunately for her, we could get Turkish coffee at every little Tom, Dick and Hamid bedouin roadside stand -- like this one!

Sinai penninsula - Sue smoking a shisha pipe

When in the Sinai... do as the Bedouins do! Sue smoking a shisha pipe while our guide Islam waits his turn.
